Sustainable Harvest International Selected to Participate in Moonshot Accelerator Program

Sustainable Harvest International (SHI) has been selected to participate in the inaugural Reimagining the Future of Global Development moonshot accelerator co-hosted by Day One Project and UnlockAid. The accelerator brings together organizations with scalable solutions to our world’s biggest challenges. The program consists of an online series of workshops and an in-person convention held in Mexico City from August 17-19 where selectees will present ideas and connect with government policymakers and philanthropic funders.

Coming together with leaders and innovators from around the world - all with a desire to grow positive solutions toward reaching the SDGs - will be an invaluable experience for SHI. I look forward to this opportunity to learn and evolve our thinking while we push forward our own ambitious goals as an organization. It’s a real honor to be a part of this first cohort of ‘moonshotters,’
— SHI's Executive Director Elliott Powell

Day One Project describes the moonshot accelerator on their website as follows:

This moonshot accelerator is a call to action. We seek to generate fresh ideas to support the development and scaling of new innovation with discrete policy actions, to bring together decision makers at bilateral and multilateral institutions, and offer roadmaps of how to stand up and support the launch of these moonshots for development. We also intend to identify proven solutions that are “shovel ready” – those that, if given resources today, could immediately scale their impact to reach tens of millions of people around the world.

SHI’s plan to expand agroecological training to smallholder farmers through its Million Farm Transformation initiative is a shovel-ready solution to the key global issues of sustainable food security and preserving critical biodiversity ecosystems.
