Group Leader Resources
COUNTRY QUIZES
You and your group will most likely be very impressed with the amount of information that people in other parts of the world know about the U.S. Be informed travelers! What do you know about the country to which you are traveling? If you have time, do a little research before your trip to answer our questions.
FIELD PROGRAM TESTIMONIALS
Here are two sample testimonials from field program participants, followed by reflection questions, to be used as discussion topics for pre-trip planning.
FIELD TRAINER ROLE PLAY
This is an activity intended for your group to try before the trip to give participants a better understanding of how our local field trainers' work is carried out.
SUSTAINABILITY QUESTIONS
With some groups, we divide questions these among participants to 'tackle' in discussion later on. It's our goal for us to examine them all, privately or publicly, during the trip. Try to answer these questions before your trip and see if your answers change after your experience.
TRIP REFLECTION GUIDE
We created the Trip Reflection Guide after working with several groups who held a daily reflection period to help focus participants' thoughts. Your group is welcome to come up with your own reflection guide, selecting a few reflections from here as well as adding readings you think will be meaningful to your groups' experience! We welcome any trip participant, not just SHI trip leaders, to lead these reflections.

"I just returned from a 10-day trip to Honduras with Sustainable Harvest International. That small organization with a relatively small staff ... is doing a fantastic job helping the rural areas of Honduras diversify crops and re-forest the denuded mountains of the country. [They] demonstrated a dedication and grasp of both the problems and possible solutions that I found worthy of Nobel prize recognition. The leadership of our Smaller World Tour by an employee of SHI was first-rate. We worked, we learned, we contributed. If there is truly a way to help the impoverished developing world, SHI holds the key."
