Join Sustainable Harvest International in the effort to alleviate poverty by restoring environmental stability. We provide communities with long-term assistance adopting sustainable land-use practices such as reforestation, agro-forestry and organic farming. These practices allow rural people to raise their standard of living without clearing more forest. Some of the strategies that have contributed to SHI's success include:
- Working only with people who have requested technical assistance to adopt sustainable land-use practices.
- Encouraging participants to decide which new methods will work best for them instead of using a cookie-cutter approach.
- Working with local institutions and hiring local experts to work with program participants.
Rather than contributing to rainforest destruction, SHI participants are preserving forests and planting trees on degraded land. They are taking control of their environmental and economic destinies.

The Smaller World Business Partners program enables your company to become directly involved in our work.
As a Business Partner, you not only have the opportunity to directly support our work in Central America, you also have the opportunity to play a major role in SHI's education and outreach efforts in your community. Open doors for members of your local community to become members of the global community by informing your employees and customers of your commitment to ecological and economic stability. We can provide you with brochures and displays to inform others about the important ways you are planting hope, restoring forests and nourishing communities.

Each Smaller World Business Partner is asked to set a fundraising goal for the year. We suggest considering the following levels:
- $300 a year: Provide technical training and support to a family
- $3,000 a year: Provide SHI's support to an entire community
- $15,000 a year: Provide salary, transportation, training and materials for one extensionist to work with as many as 60 families in 5-6 communities in his/her country.
Appropriate in-kind donations are also greatly appreciated and tax-deductible!
There are also many opportunities to support a specific area of our work. For instance, if your business is a bakery, we can directly connect you with a women's group in Honduras that has asked for our assistance to establish a small bakery in their village.

By becoming one of SHI's Smaller World Business Partner you are:
- Taking responsibility for the environmental impact of your business
- Demonstrating your commitment to environmental and social sustainability worldwide
- Providing support and training to hundreds of families struggling to break out of the cycle of poverty and deforestation
- Educating others about the important issues affecting the global community
Let us know if you would like brochures and a display holder to share with your community.
