Saving for a “Futuro Mejor” by Amanda Zehner

In the center of Kukra Hill, Nicaragua, the 33 women of “Mujeres por un Futuro Mejor” - or “Women for a Better Future” - meet in a small classroom at the local elementary school. “Mujeres por un Futuro Mejor” provides a forum where these women can deposit savings and take out small loans. Perhaps more importantly, it offers them a safe and open environment where they feel comfortable sharing ideas, concerns, and future plans.
